4. FAQs
Why haven’t I received my 1099?
You might not have generated taxable income above $10 this year. If you believe that you should have a 1099 and the document is missing, please contact us at membership@artafinance.com.
What do I do with a Pending 1099 Notice?
This notice lists securities still awaiting issuer data. The final 1099 will be sent as soon as all data is processed.
Why are some documents delayed?
Certain documents, such as K-1s, require additional time for fund managers to finalize. They are typically issued within 120 days of year-end, though K-1s for some closed-end private investments may arrive later in the year. We’ll notify you as soon as they’re available in your Arta app.
How do I share my documents with my CPA or tax preparer?
All documents can be downloaded directly from the Arta app in PDF format, making them easy to email or upload to your tax preparer’s portal.
Do I need to file U.S. taxes if I’m a Singapore-based investor?
Generally, Singapore tax residents don't have to file US taxes. Withholding tax on US-sourced income is automatically applied at the source so there is no action required on your behalf. Reimbursements under the Qualified Interest Income rule are also handled by Arta’s broker-dealer and custodian, BNY Pershing.
I received two 1099s. Why?
When you opened your Arta account, you initially had two underlying accounts with our custodian, Pershing, which generated separate tax statements.
This year, we combined accounts to create a streamlined, single-account structure. Starting next tax season for most members, you’ll receive only one Form 1099. However, for the current tax season, you may still receive two 1099s reflecting activity from both accounts.
Can Arta provide tax advice?
Arta does not currently offer tax services but we are happy to refer you to our partners, who can help with tax planning, advice, preparation or filing. Please email us at membership@artafinance.com to get started.
What happens if I notice an error on my tax forms?
If you believe there’s an issue with your tax documents, contact us at membership@artafinance.com immediately, and we’ll work with our partners to investigate and resolve it.
Do I need to act on estimated K-1s?
Estimated K-1s are provided for informational purposes and should be provided to your tax professional.
What tax documents are needed for High Yield Cash Reserve?
Pershing will provide supplemental information that will help you correctly file your state taxes and Arta will provide this information via your Important Documents in the Arta app. You should provide this supplemental information to your tax professional or enter it into your self-preparation software.
Please note, this information is not available on your 1099, which is a federal tax document.
Can I access past-year tax documents in the app?
Yes, historical tax documents are stored in the Arta app under Important Documents > Tax Documents for easy reference.
How will I know if I need to file an extension?
If your tax documents are delayed (e.g., K-1s), we recommend consulting your tax advisor to determine if filing an extension is necessary.
